Welcome To The Birds

It’s that time of year. Time to celebrate.

The birds are coming back.

Soon they’ll be streaming in from wintering over in the north.

After a rest and feeding they’ll fly up the rivers to nest.

Join the Waimakariri community in celebrating activities leading up to a fun day on the 31st August at Waikuku Beach Domain. These include:

• Create a Flock: decorate a bird cut-out and add to the flock on the fun day. Many schools have this under way. Cut-outs from WDC.
• Banners: Check out the bird flags in Rangiora, Kaiapoi and Oxford from 15 August.
• Bird Scavenger Hunt: starting 18 August. Check shop windows for bird photos and go into a prize draw.
• Photo exhibition: Visit a stunning photographic exhibition of river birds at the Fold Gallery, High St, Rangiora from 22 August.
